Aamir Khan makes Mona Singh Nervous!

Mona Singh of the Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin fame is making her Bollywood debut with superstars Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor in Raj Kumar Hirani’s Five Point Someone adaptation 3 Idiots. She is very excited and nervous about the film.

Mona says, Aamir is so good. It’s not even funny. He makes me so nervous. In fact, the thought of working with any of the big stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir and Shah Rukh Khan makes me very nervous. But for now, I am excited.”

She plays Kareena’s sister in the film and talking about her role she says, “I play a very bubbly character in the film and my look is very different from what I look right now. My role is really good and I have a major part in the climax of the film.”

Mona is a fairly good actress we saw her acting skills in Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin and she dances amazingly - that made her win two dance competitions on TV. We hope the actress does well on the silver screen too.

Neil Nitin Is In Love

Neil Nitin Mukesh is one of the hottest new kids on the block and everyone is curious why he is still single. But the buzz is that the handsome hunk is in love and he is very soon going to propose to his lady love, he said in an interview.

“There is a person whom I probably like. I am waiting for the right time to come and then I will confess to her about my feelings. I would not like to reveal her name at this point of time. For the time being she is just a friend. Let something happen. I can assure you that whenever it happens, you would be the first person to know.”

Did I hear a few heartbreaks there?

Anushka’s Dad Doesn’t Wanna Find Her A Boy

Anushka Sharma’s dad is just not interested in finding her actress daughter a suitable boy.

“My father always says,”You please go and find a boy for yourself because I doubt if I will ever find one for you”. I tend to go the hyper way sometimes which is fine because that’s my age.” says Anushka Sharma.

We already know she prefers Surinder over Raj and she explains, “So if I was ever to find someone for me, the guy has to be like Surinder Sahni. If you are dating a rich brat, how far can you go on is my question and where are you going to go? You want to be with someone who loves you like Suri does, that is unconditionally. He has to be sweet and genuine. I was watching the film and was cursing my character because I failed to understand why Taani isn’t falling in love with him.”

So does that mean she has a crush on Shahrukh? Apparently not, Anushka thinks Shahrukh is better off with Gauri. She thinks the two make a very cute couple.

Akshay Kumar Gifts Twinkle a Bentley Car

Akshay Kumar is a loving husband, so what if he charges the poor producers 9 crores for a mere dubbing job even when the world economy is down in the dumps. Look what nice things he does with all the money. He pays heavy income tax to the Indian government and keeps his wife happy… Thats perhaps the greatest achievement for any Indian man - because these two things are literally impossible to achieve for many Indian men.
He decided to gift her a lavish Bentley Car worth 3 crore to his wifey dear on her birthday on 29th December. Apparently he spent so much for her because he was extremely proud of her and wanted to give her the best of everything because he owes his success to her.

Apparently he handed the car keys to his wife before he flew off to Hong Kong for Christmas Show. Twinkle was overwhelmed with joy we heard.

Akki Boy… You are truly the Kinngg… Im serious

Katrina Kaif’s Beauty and Style Secrets

Katrina Kaif is the most beautiful actress in Bollywood at the moment. She is perfect in every way - amazing skin, beautiful eyes, lovely mouth and the chic knows how to accentuate her beauty well. Never do you see her wearing what doesn’t suit her style both in terms of clothes and makeup.

She reveals her beauty secrets and it is interesting to know what kind of products she uses and what is her beauty regimen. So make sure you note this stuff down in case you wanna be as beautiful as her -

Beauty Regimen
“I kick start my day with three to four glasses of water. I excercise. I love swimming, jogging, gymming — this gives blood circulation a boost and skin feels healthier. My skin behaves well if I use less make-up. A beauty rule that I follow is to always cleanse my face of all make-up, however tired I may be. I use a face wash by Mene & Moy which has two per cent salicylic acid and LancĂ´me Cleansing Milk for the face and eyes. I am addicted to the Purifying Apricot Oil from Anne Semoin. To deal with a beauty emergency I rely on a mineral mud mask by Anne Semoin. It calms my skin.”

Makeup
“I like to play up my eyes with lots of mascara by Yves Saint Laurent. My look for the coming season is traditional with more emphasis on the eyes with MAC kohl, keeping cheeks and lips neutral with a bronze highlighter from Laura Mercier and a MAC lip gloss in nude.”

Clothes
“I like to wear Floral summer dresses or tracks and sweatshirts or cargo pants and sleeveless tee shirts during the day I don’t party too often, but when I do, I opt for a Tarun Tahiliani Indo-Western or Rocky S’ Westerns. I just cant do without my Lee Jeans.”

Emraan Hashmi Prefers Dark Roles

Emraan Hashmi has always been seen in zara-hatke roles and never has been seen playing innocent boy roles, the reason is he always prefers dark roles.

Emraan says, “I prefer to do dark characters. That’s closer to me and that’s what I enjoy doing more. I cannot insanely dance around trees; at least till the time the role really doesn’t demand that.”

“I’m playing a painter. He can foresee the future and paints the same on his canvas. My character is dark and complicated and has no contact with the outside world.”

When asked about comparison with original Raaz, he says, “I’m sure there will be comparisons with the earlier ‘Raaz’. That’s bound to happen. But I’m sure that people will love this one too since it’s got all the ingredients to be successful at the box office. This film has a different plot and will give a new definition to the horror genre.”

So are you ready for another movie from Emraan?

Sanjay Leela Bhansali doesn’t need Pakistani actors

Sanjay Leela Bhansali was in news recently for secretly signing Pakistani actor Imran Abbas for his upcoming flick Heera Mandi, however he has dismissed the rumors. Read on.

You’ve quietly gone and signed Pakistani actor Imran Abbas for Heera Mandi?
So quietly that even I don’t know about it. I haven’t signed anyone called Imran Abbas. I’m not making Heera Mandi right now. It may happen much later. When it starts, we’ll think of the casting.

So have you met this Imran?
Moin Beg, writer of Heera Mandi wanted me to meet this actor. So I did, almost a year ago, and I immediately realised he wasn’t the actor I was looking for. The next thing I know, I’m supposed to be arranging this guy’s visa to India. What nonsense!

Why don’t you clarify the misconceptions?
Kuch to log kehenge, kehne do. I can’t bring myself to become the master of sound bytes. I’ve already decided whom to work with in my next project. And should I look at Pakistan for actors? We’ve very talented people in our own country.

This news has broken many hearts I guess, for aspiring Pakistani actors.

What 2009 holds for our Bolly stars

Numerologist Sanjay B Jumaani predicts what 2009 holds for our top Bollywood stars and how their movies will work at the box-office.Check what he has to say about them:

Shah Rukh Khan
The Badshah of Bollywood may not have a great year health-wise. He’s in his 44th year, which adds up to 8, representing Saturn (Shani). Unfortunately, it doesn’t augur well for King Khan as 8 has not worked well for him in the past.

Hrithik Roshan
Hrithik is in his 35th year and will soon be 36. However, 9 is not one of his best numbers. In fact, 9 of Mars can make a person impulsive and accident-prone, so he better watch out instead of playing superhero! A very potent combination rules him, so he should avoid multi-starrers and take up work that has him in the lead. He and his father should make more films together as all their three films were huge hits.

Salman Khan
He is governed by number 9, the fiery Mars (Mangal), the planet of energy, which makes a person impetuous, accident-prone, stubborn and inflexible. His comeback vehicles – Tere Naam and Partner – add up to 9. His girlfriend Katrina’s destiny number is 9. She’s a water sign (Cancerian) and he’s an Earth sign, and these signs usually go well together. So, he should lie low this year as he could be subject to defamation, scandal and false accusations. In 2010, he’ll be 45, one of his best years, and marriage could be on the cards. But if he marries Katrina, she should brace against his fiery outbursts.

Saif Ali Khan
Saif is in his 39th year, adding to 3, which is Jupiter, planet of wealth. Though his girlfriend Kareena (a number 3) hasn’t married him yet, Saif can still expect to have a fortunate year, especially after his 40th birthday as 4 is one of his luckier numbers.

Akshay Kumar
The Khiladi will remain in his 42nd year till September 9 next year and it will be an eventful year. His name as well as the year 2008 adds to 28, which was also why it was so good for him. Chandni Chowk To China is expected to do well too, along with 8+10, which gives us 9 again.

Abhishek Bachchan
Junior AB is currently in his 33rd year and 6 is among his favoured numbers. However, on February 5, he’ll enter his 34th year (7), which is neither good nor bad for him. Delhi 6 is spelt so instead of Dilli 6 on our behest and adds to 6 too, so it should do him well. We’d always maintained that ABCL won’t do well under Big B as his numbers are not conducive to business; however, it stands a better chance under Abhishek.

Katrina Kaif
Katrina is a number 7, ruled by Neptune and the Moon, planets that endow imagination and creativity. She is doubly influenced by these planets as they govern Cancerians. The flipside is they can make her restless and moody. She’s now in her 25th year (7). So, this could be one of her best years.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
Her name adds to 50 or 5, which is the same as AB Baby’s. So, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that she rules him! In Mani Ratnam’s Raavan, she can expect to get rave reviews, and maybe even outdo Abhishek. She can make a good brand ambassador for India. After she turns 37, her entry into politics could also not be ruled out. Aishwarya should try to focus on doing foreign films; Hollywood is a good option too.

Aamir interviewd by illegal radio channel backed by Taliban

Aamir Khan apparently unknowingly gave an interview to a radio station which is illegal and is funded by Taliban, who get their money mainly from drugs.

He gave the interview on Christmas which was aired live on Vibe FM. The broadcasting area of Vibe FM is in Yorkshire, UK. The Radio Authority confirmed that Vibe FM does not have license.

Apparently the interview was arranged by a top Mumbai journalist. The news still has to be confirmed by Aamir Khan.

Salman’s Ghajini painting

Check out Salman’s painting where his muse is Aamir’s character from Ghajini. You like the painting? I think it’s great...

Salman Highly Impressed By Ghajini

Salman Khan is very much impressed by Aamir after he watched the movie at a special screening.

Salman says, ‘I was just awestruck and enthralled with Aamir Khan’s stunning act. It’s true that Aamir has a great physique for the film, but his spellbinding performance eclipses them during course of show.’

Salman also predicted that Ghajini was the best film of this decade.

He said, ‘There hasn’t been such a great film over for past 10 years’.

Do you folks have thoughts similar to Salman?

Aamir Doesn’t dare to fight SRK

As the war of words intensifies between Aamir and SRK, Aamir has again went ahead to make indirect comments at his fellow Khan- SRK.

He says, “For me Amitabh Bachchan is No 1. Do Lata Mangeshkar, Sachin Tendulkar and Amitabh Bachchan say they are number one? No one who sits on the top needs to say he is number one. Others keep claiming to be there.”

When quizzed about SRK calling himself the biggest brand, he says, “I don’t believe in competitions with others. I only compete with myself.”

He ends on the note that he cannot fight SRK, saying, “Do you think I could dare to fight with Shah Rukh. He is a good friend and so I can’t fight with him. I respect him a lot.”

Talking about his next flick Three Idiots, he says, “My forthcoming film after Ghajini is Rajkumar Hirani’s Three Idiots and I play the character of an idiot with R. Madhavan and Sharman Joshi. But I think Shah Rukh, Salman and I are truly the three idiots of Bollywood.”

Well looks like these stars know how to be politically cunning and correct at the same time.

Review

Story:

A very different story, the tale begins with a past where Sanjay Singhania (Aamir) is a smart and suave business tycoon. His life changes when he meets Kalpana (Asin) the very talkative and bubbly girl, life goes hunky dory until a tragedy happens and Kalpana is killed brutally. During this, Sanjay also is badly injured and he ends up having a short term memory loss. He is a changed man altogether and from then on he has only one thing in mind- revenge and to catch the killer. In order to cope up with his memory loss, he has a Polaroid camera with him to keep pictures and then his body is tattooed with pieces of information. His profile catches the attention of Sunita (Jiah) and she tries to befriend him in many ways. However, Sanjay has no time for that and he is solely on a blood seeking mission. Is he able to find the killer? Who is the killer? Can Sanjay do something about his memory? You must watch the movie to find this out.

Presentation:

The director has come up with a rather unusual subject and true to its originality, he has been good with his narration and remarkable with his presentation. Full marks go to the screenplay for being executed magnificently and the script that was written so well with the twists and turns. Dialogues are worthy, music has been par excellence and there are atleast three songs that will haunt for the coming time. Cinematography again was mesmerizing and the lighting effects were dazzling. Editing was crisp and to the core. Costumes and locations were well chosen and created enough visual appeal. Coming to the cast, Asin came out with an exemplary performance and showed her true mettle. Jiah was hot and sexy though covered completely and the actress in her is seen. Pradeep Rawat was evil personified and he showed his dark side to the fullest potential. The real show stealer however was Aamir Khan who came in with an award winning performance and though his lines were just a few, it was his body language and expressions that stole the show.

Final Analysis:

Though it has been believed to be the remake of the foreign film 'Memento', the director has been wise enough to just take a leaf or two but create his own story and fill it with the required elements of suspense and twists. While the first half of the film goes about with a past and gets it to the present with equal ease, the second half takes you back to the past again and culminates into a spellbinding and shocking climax. Though the length is high, the pace of the film keeps the audience glued to their seat. Technically and content wise, the film happens to be an amazing venture and it has success written all over it, however comparison might arise with the original when the southern audience see it since they have already seen the original. This could well be a blockbuster.

Shahrukh Khan Feel Responsible For Anushka

9.jpg

Anushka Sharma made a dream debut opposite King Khan and has managed to impressed him as her co-star. Shahrukh Khan is mighty impressed with this young girl and this is what he had to say about her -

“Anushka in a certain way has helped me a lot with this film. I had to react to this girl who’s so fresh and different. So as an actor, I would say she has kept me on my toes and I think she has done a wonderful job.

I feel responsible for her career because she is starting off with me. I hope she does a fantastic job. She kept me on my toes, not just by virtue of being fresh and new, by being taller than me also.

I truly from the bottom of my heart pray for her and I hope this film does really good for her and she does some amazing amount of work, so we can feel proud that we started her career on celluloid,” said Shahrukh.

Perhaps that’s what makes SRK love his younger co-stars more!

Aishwarya Too Old For L’Oreal

Aishwarya Rai

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been the brand face of L’Oreal for three year now. But with growing ages, the company feels that she is no more suitable for the young generation. Looking at her age and status, the company has decided to sign in young face Sonam Kapoor for their new product to be launched soon. A source reveals, “Sonam was signed for a huge amount commensurate with what th actresses of today like Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra are charging. The deal was brought about by celebrity management company, Atul Kasbekar’s Bling.” Ash will continue to be with the brand but she will represent only women of her ages and Sonam, the younger groups. If Sonam signs the ad then this would be her first commercial with any company. After accumulating huge accolades for Saawariya, she is gearing up for her next release Delhi 6 with Abhishek Bachchan.

Oscar library shows interest in 'RNBDJ'

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi' upon watched by the film lovers has evoked mixed responses.

While for some people it is a complete movie, some others feel that the flick is not as captivating as the other Yash Raj /SRK movies which have gone to create records in collection and popularity.

Whatever the box office results are, the storyline of the movie has impressed the selectors at the Oscar library and no one expected a development of this kind to happen so fast.

The Academy Of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences Library has now made a request to Yash Raj Movies for keeping the script in its permanent collection.

The factors which made the staff at the library to give the film a slot in the prestigious library which is used only for research purposes by students, film makers, writers and actors are the sensitivity of the screenplay and the unusual love story.

All the screenplays are kept in a separate section at the Margaret Herrick Library and cannot be circulated or copied in any way.

Kareena’s Coldest Night With Saif

Kareena Kapoor experienced the coldest night with her beau Saif Ali Khan while shooting in Philadelphia. The couple is otherwise quite cosy together but Kareena needed a whole lot of winter wear including jackets, shawls, boots and pullovers to keep warm while shooting for Karan Johar’s flick with Saif.

She said, “It was the coldest night of my life… You’ve no idea what it was like in that heavy snowfall with a unit of 80 people. But it looked like heaven.”

No points for guessing who made it ‘heavenly’ in such freezing cold for Kareena. The couple decided to keep shooting in such an extreme climate because they want to take a break from Christmas to New Year for Saif’s annual family bash at his ancestral home.

Jiah Learning Urdu!

Aamir Khan who chose Jiah Khan over Kangana Ranaut in his forthcoming film Ghajini got into trouble when his lady had to deliver lengthy emotional dialogues in Urdu. Jiah is not at all good at Hindi or Urdu and just didn’t sound right when she spoke her dialogues. But Aamir, the perfectionist he stands, knew exactly what to do.

“I must admit it was a bit of a problem. Aamir and the director got me an Urdu dialogue coach, Athar Nawaz who guided me. And each time I’d be stuck with a line Aamir helped me out,” Jiah told IANS.

“My mom, who lives in London, flew down during the shooting. She speaks Urdu fluently. She ran through the dialogues with me over and over again. I think I’ve done my lines very well. To have my lines dubbed would have taken away from my performance. I think I managed my lines well,” she added.

“Like the Urdu-Hindi, I’ve mastered the dancing to a large extent,” she said talking about her song Lattoo in the film.

“I realised how hard it is to do a sizzling song. The song is a very Jennifer Lopez kind of number. It’s very stylish and chic. In a week’s time, it goes on air. That should answer the question why I’m not seen in the publicity,” she said.

Well… to me she doesn’t look pretty one bit… But if Aamir was okay with her, it means the girl has got something!

Cant wait to watch Ghajini!

Shilpa’s Nose In the Air Results in Foot Injury

Shilpa Shetty has now learnt the importance of staying grounded thanks to her foot injury. She injured her foot in an accident because of her big sunglasses. She wrote on her blog -

“I hurt my foot bad enough to get 15 stitches? don’t ask me how. In a freak accident, thanks to my big sunglasses and nose in the air, I overlooked a sharp metal piece that slit my foot, thankfully not below but over the foot.”

“It is nothing that local anesthesia, a tetanus injection and antibiotics couldn’t solve. There’s nothing to worry about other than my dates that have gone for a toss, disabling me from taking Odissi lessons for my new film ‘Desire’,” she wrote.

She ended her blog writing, ” “Look before you leap and stay grounded.”

Hah! Have learnt it the hard way… haven’t you Shilpa?

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi Movie Review

Moive: Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi
Banner: Yash Raj Films
Music: Salim Merchant & Sulaiman Merchant
Cinematography: Ravi K. Chandran
Choreography: Vaibhavi Merchant
Story - screenplay - dialogues - director: Aditya Chopra
Producer: Aditya Chopra & Yash Chopra
Cast: Shahrukh Khan, Anushka Sharma, Vinay Pathak, Kajol (SA), Bipasha Basu (SA), Rani Mukherjee (SA), Preity Zinta (SA) and Lara Dutta (SA)
My Rating: 3.25/5
Release date: 12th Dec 2008

Story:

Surinder Sawhney (Shahrukh Khan) is an average, timid and unattractive government employee. He likes Taani (Anushka Sharma) when he goes to her wedding. She is the daughter of his college professor. When the groom-to-be dies in an accident, the dying professor asks Surinder to tie knot to Taani. They return to Amritsir and Taani tells Surinder that she could love him though she married him. But Surinder loves her a lot, but refrains from expressing it. It all changes when dance loving Taani wants to join a dance club. A stylist buddy of Surender gives him a new look. And he attends the dance club and gets introduced to Taani as Raj. Over a period of time, Taani gets bored with her husband Surinder and likes the company on Raj. The rest of the story is all about whom she chooses when Raj proposes to her one day.

Actors:

Shahrukh Khan donned two entirely different get-ups. He used buck-tooth, mustache, spectacles and a timid look to impress us with the role of Surinder. He is pretty funky as Raj who tries to impress heroine with macho looks. Anushka Sharma is perfect for the role of a typical Punjabi girl. She did justice to her role. Vinay Pathak has considerable amount of screen time and he is hilarious as Bobby Khalsa – the hair stylist. Kajol, Bipasha Basu, Rani Mukherjee, Preity Zinta and Lara Dutta sizzled in a special retro song. There are no other major characters in the film.

Technical departments:

Story - screenplay - direction:

The aspect of hero living two lives and romancing with heroine in new get-up reminds us of Spiderman film and Aparichitudu (Anniyan in Tamil). Other than that, it is a simple love story. The way the director introduced the characters of main leads is classy. The way Surinder try to get attention and the way he feels happy about small things is cute. However, the heroine not recognizing that both Raj and Surinder are same. The director has worked on the emotions part really well. Initially hero just wants to enjoy the friendship and love of heroine using the Raj avatar. But after sometime, he starts testing heroine’s character. This point looks little contrived. The Sumo fight also does not appeal. The director worked on the pre-climax (heroine looking at hero like a God) and the climax part well. The director mixed commercial elements with sentiment value. The following scenes are nice –

1. Surinder keeping the rose on the table and then taking it back.
2. When Raj tells Taani not to use B word, she says that she is capable of uttering C, D and F words too.
3. Taani's bike chase with Tiny Singh
4. Pani Puri competition followed by Biryani dinner.
5. The episode of Raj’s proposal
6. Raj speaking with Mannequin dressed as Surinder
7. The way cards are used by kids to parade the panting of heroine in a song
8. The slideshow with SRK’s voiceover during end-titles rolling.

Other Technical Departments:

Music of the film is extremely good. The usage of ‘haule haule’ bit with harmonium as background score for the cute moments between Surinder and Taani is good. The violin bit for the moments between Raj and Taani is also good. ‘Haule Haule’ and ‘Dance Pe Chance’ songs are the winners. Dialogues are excellent. Cinematography by Ravi K Chandran is of top class. Artwork is nice.

Analysis:

First half of the film is good. Second half is nice, but there are some boring moments. The positive points are casting, screenplay and direction. The negative points are lack of logic (heroine not recognizing hero without mustache) and the aspect of hero testing heroine’s character. The negative points dominate the positive points in the film. Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi has both fun and sentiment in equal dosage. It makes an interesting viewing.
